When I visited Jerusalem, I went to the site believed to be the Garden Tomb of Joseph of Arimathea and saw the empty tomb. The tomb claimed by the Catholic Church as Jesus’s tomb was inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, but it is said that the Garden Tomb outside the city walls is more likely to be the tomb mentioned in the Bible. More than the tomb’s authenticity, what I personally experienced was this: throughout the entire time I was touring the Garden Tomb, it poured rain. But when I entered the empty tomb, looked around inside, and stepped back outside, the weather cleared up as if by magic. I saw a bright, sunny sky, so dazzling the sunlight hurt my eyes. I meditated on whether this might not have been how it was when Jesus rose from the dead and came out of the tomb. I imagine Him emerging from the dark tomb, stepping out into the bright sun and breathing in the fresh air. I share a photo taken as I exited the empty tomb.
