My first encounter with Hyundai Galloper, whom my friend left at my brother-in-law’s apartment in Songdo during his long term visit to China on business was a prelude to my fateful ownership of Hyundai Galloper restored model, Mohenic Garages Saharatan G. Galloper was a 4×4 SUV that my uncle owned and it was a symbol of tough man’s vehicle in the 90′s in Korea. Manufacture of the Galloper series is discontinued in 2003 but they are still loved by many Galloper mania in Korea especially who loves outdoor sports and off-road driving.

Thanks to the founder of Mohenic Garages in Paju, Gallopers are being restored in a small garages by hand and rebranded as Mohenic Series. It’s quite amazing to see a complete overhaul of the engine, restoration of the body and various parts of the vehicle being upgraded by professionals, producing 1~2 cars per month by order only. I was lucky to purchase the Mohenic Model G as secondhand, otherwise I had to be in a long waiting list of at least 6 months. It was my brother who had an interest in this company and invited me to the garages but at the last min, he gave me such opportunity to become Mohenic owner since the vehicle’s elevation was too high for his family and the newborn baby.

Retro Mohenic Garages Model G became one of my identities and quickly draw many people’s attention. Especially when I parked my car next to the Tesla, I thought the Past and the Future meets the Present. Mohenic Garages provides more than just fun and excitement driving the car and it brings many SUV manias to be connected as a unique pop culture. One of the owners of Mohenic vehicle who is also an Lego mania created a new Lego set that mimicked the actual vehicle model and I was fortunate to receive one set.

My long commute drive won’t be lonely with Mohenic everyday and I will be enjoying it’s authentic driving experience. Driving Earth!
