Beginning 2018 with a Special Dawn Prayer

When Moses climbed the mountain and raised his hands in prayer during the battle against Amalek, the Israelite army prevailed; when he lowered his hands, they were defeated. When Aaron and Hur piled stones and held up Moses’ hands together in prayer, God intervened. Hearing this passage, I applied it to myself. Starting today, I’ll be working with university marketing interns. They’re still a ragtag group, and I worry about what I can accomplish with them. But I will pray daily, relying on God’s help to build an amazing team. I also meditated on supporting our company leader, ensuring his arms don’t drop to the ground, so this year becomes one of victory.

As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.
Exodus 17:11‭-‬12
