박원순 서울시장의 성추행 의혹 사건이 공개되고 그의 실종신고 뉴스를 보면서 불길한 느낌이었는데 아침 일어나자마자 트위터 뉴스를 검색해보니 시끌벅적한 박원순 시장의 사망 소식에 순간 멍해졌습니다. 사회적인 책임과 기대를 한몸에 받던, 사실상 넘버투였던 대통령의 절친이 이렇게 허망하게 가는 걸 보면서 죄의 무서움을 새삼 깨닫습니다.
I had an ominous feeling when I saw the news of Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon’s sexual misconduct allegations go public and his disappearance reported, but when I woke up in the morning and searched Twitter news, I was immediately stunned by the news of his death. Seeing the president’s best friend, who was practically the number one person in the country, who was expected to be responsible and accountable to society, go down in flames like this reminded me of the horror of sin.
대외적으로 알려진 이미지나 사회적인 위치와 다르게 그는 이중생활을 하며 그의 말이나 행동은 모두 공적인 연기이었을 수도 있겠다는 생각이 들었습니다. 죄가 드러나면서 자신의 만들어 놓은 대외적인 박원순과 진짜 나와의 괴리가 생기자 순간 무너져 내린게 아닌가 싶습니다. 그의 사망 이후에도 경찰이 성추행 의혹에 대해 수사했지만 결국공소권 없음으로 수사가 종결되고 그 이후에도 소속 당에서는 피해호소인이라는 신조어로 피해 여성에 대한 2차 가해로 이어진 것도 참 안타까운 일이었습니다.
Contrary to his publicly known image and social position, he was living a double life, and his words and actions may have all been public performances. I wonder if he collapsed at the moment when his guilt was revealed and the gap between his public persona and the real Park Won-soon was revealed. It is also unfortunate that even after his death, the police investigated the sexual misconduct allegations, but the investigation was eventually closed due to lack of prosecution, and even after that, his party used the neologism of victimization to perpetrate secondary attacks on the victimized women.
박원순 시장이 무책임하게 죽지않고 자신의 죄값을 치르고 피해자와 가족, 그리고 국민에게 사죄했더라면 좋았겠다는 생각을 하면서 2018년 유사한 성추행 혐의로 구속된 안희정 전의원의 모습이 겹쳐졌습니다. 그리고 국민들이 더욱 깨어서 올바른 정치인들을 잘 분별해야겠다고 묵상했습니다.
As I thought about how I wish Mayor Park Won-soon had paid for his sins and apologized to his victims, their families, and the Korean people instead of dying irresponsibly, I was reminded of former Representative Ahn Hee-jung, who was jailed for similar sexual misconduct in 2018, and I meditated on the need for the Korean people to be more vigilant and discern the right politicians.
