유투브를 통해 알게된 자청 작가의 책, 역행자는 비슷한 시기에 읽은 M.J. 더마코 작가의 부의 추월차선과 일맥상통하는 면이 있었습니다. 두 저자는 비교적 젊은 나이에 자수성가하여 경제적으로 독립하고 각각 유명 유투버와 투자자로서 활동하며 전자는 인생을 어떻게 마치 게임 치트키를 이용하여 해킹을 하듯 레벨업 하는지(라이프 해커) 그리고 후자는 어떻게 인생을 천천히 주어진 삶을 따라가는 서행차선이 아닌 빠른 추월차선을 탈 수 있는지 자신들의 경험을 바탕으로 쓴 책입니다.
His book, The Passing Lanes of Wealth, which I discovered through YouTube, resonated with M.J. Dermako’s The Passing Lanes of Wealth, which I read around the same time. Both authors are self-made and financially independent at a relatively young age, working as a popular YouTuber and investor respectively, and both write about their experiences of how to level up your life as if it were a game with cheat keys (life hackers) and how to get into the fast passing lane instead of the slow lane of following life as it is given to you.
자청의 경우 20대에 200여권의 역사, 심리, 사회학의 책을 독파한 후 연애상담 컨설팅 서비스를 사업모델로 친구와 동업을 하면서 사업을 시작하여 재회 서비스 및 마케팅 회사에 이르기까지 다양한 사업으로 확장하면서 돈을 버는 방법 자체를 컨텐츠화화여 라이프 해커, 자청이라는 유튜브 채널을 만들고 또한 인기 유튜브 채널인 신사임당에 출연하면서 더욱 유명해진 분입니다. 사실 책의 내용이 새롭거나 혁신적인 사업 아이템을 소개하는 책은 아니지만 20대의 청년이 자본없이 지식을 바탕으로 사업을 시작하여 여러 플랫폼을 활용하여 사업을 확장하고 자신을 성공의 아이콘으로 만들었다는 것은 정말 대단하다고 생각했습니다. 그리고 책읽기와 글쓰기로 뇌를 깨우고 실행가능한 7단계 자기 계발 방법들을 소개하며 자신이 깨달은 치트키들을 소개하는 것이 신선했습니다.
In the case of Jachung, he is a life hacker who started a business in his 20s after reading over 200 books on history, psychology, and sociology and started a business with a friend as a business model for a relationship counseling consulting service, expanded it to a reunion service and a marketing company, and became even more famous by creating a YouTube channel called Jachung and appearing on the popular YouTube channel Sinsaimdang. In fact, the contents of the book do not introduce any new or innovative business items, but I thought it was really great that a young man in his 20s started a business based on his knowledge without capital, expanded his business by utilizing multiple platforms, and made himself a success icon. And it was refreshing to see him introduce the cheat keys he realized by waking up his brain through reading and writing and introducing 7 steps to self-improvement that can be implemented.
부의 추월차선의 M.J. 더마코는 역시 젊은 나이에 인터넷 사업으로 사업을 시작하여 성공적으로 매각한 후 그 이후 주식 및 부동산 등의 투자를 하고 추월차선 포럼을 운영하면서 여러가지 사업 성공의 사례를 공유하는 커뮤니티를 만들었습니다. 마치 청취자들의 재미있는 사연을 들려주는 두시탈출 컬투쇼나 위에서 언급한 신사임당 유튜브 채널과 같이 계속해서 성공한 사업 아이템을 소개하고 공유하면서 생산하는 컨텐츠 플랫폼으로 발전시켜 책으로 출간하는 선순환 방식으로 운영하고 있었는데 읽다보면 그 포럼에 가입하고 싶은 호기심이 들 정도로 다양한 방법으로 사업적인 성공을 한 회원들의 사례를 소개하고 있었습니다.

전혀 다른 두 명의 작가를 책을 통해 만나면서 느낀 점은 성공으로 가는 방법과 길은 모두 다르지만 그 원리는 유사하고 강력한 실행력으로 작은 성과로 점점 큰 성과를 만들어내는 공개된 비밀을 알게 되었습니다. 그리고 한편 각 나라의 성공하는 방법의 문화 차이가 흥미로웠는데 한국사회에서는 추월차선은 공평하지 못한 불평등한 방법으로 인식되고 미국 사회에서는 치트키는 올바르지 못한 반칙으로 인식될 수도 있다는 것입니다. 결국 추월차선이든 치트키든 그 사회에 맞는 방법으로 성공해야 인정받을 수 있겠다고 생각했습니다. 그래서 나만의 성공의 방법을 찾기 위해 책읽기와 글쓰기를 계속하며 오늘도 새벽 4시반에 일어나 하루를 힘차게 시작합니다.
What I learned from reading these two very different authors is that while the methods and paths to success are different, the principles are similar, and the open secrets are the same: small wins build into big wins with strong execution. It was also interesting to see the cultural differences in how each country succeeds, such as passing lane in Korean society is perceived as an unfair and unequal method, and cheating in American society may be perceived as cheating. Eventually, I realized that I had to succeed in a way that fit into that society, whether it was passing lanes or cheating, to be recognized, so I continued to read and write to find my own way to success, and today I still wake up at 4:30 a.m. to start my day.
