There’s a man I learned about through the YouTube channel ‘The Business God.’ His style of consulting, harshly pushing self-employed people nationwide with his rough and blunt language, felt somewhat unfamiliar at first. But once I learned he was a successful entrepreneur who built a 20 billion won fortune by selling his chicken franchise business and now helps struggling small business owners, I became curious about his story.
Opening the book he wrote revealed a seriousness quite different from his rough on-screen persona. His journey from starting as a Chinese restaurant delivery driver to becoming a franchise CEO was nothing short of a ‘struggle’. Stories like how he single-handedly saved a chicken restaurant facing closure during the avian flu crisis, or episodes where he personally lent money to franchisees to help them grow, revealed what a people-first manager he is.
But what truly struck a chord was his confession about the ‘depression’ that hit him after amassing immense wealth at a young age. Having personally navigated the tunnel of severe depression, I deeply empathized with the immense pain and frustration he must have felt at a moment when it seemed he had achieved everything. The process of rebuilding relationships severed after a life of relentless pursuit, and opening a new second chapter as a YouTuber helping small business owners, was itself a form of ‘healing’ and ‘rebirth’.
Watching him transition from a life solely focused on success and money to one now dedicated to adding meaning to others’ lives, I realized he is a true ‘business mentor’. If such a passionate and influential leader were to personally encounter God, what incredible transformation and positive impact might he bring to the countless self-employed individuals in this land? Hoping God’s grace will be poured out upon his life, which has weathered life’s fierce waves, I quietly pray he will be reborn as a remarkable spiritual leader for our time.
