Spiritual adultery

When I first heard this word, I was more curious about who would commit such a sin than concerned about its negative connotation. I also wondered under what circumstances such a sin could be committed, but observing South Korea’s pastors made it clear. Because the church is likened to Jesus’ bride, I understood that a pastor’s apostasy is considered adultery. I also came to understand that their betrayal involves speaking falsehoods instead of truth before God’s Word, or following heretical doctrines as if serving foreign gods. Moreover, I thought this behavior by spiritual leaders resembled adultery precisely because, unlike overt betrayal visible to all, it is carried out subtly and secretly.

Following President Yoon Suk-yeol’s declaration of martial law last year, the existence of anti-state forces or globalists in the political, social, economic, and religious spheres was laid bare for all to see. Amidst the chaos, the people began to awaken one by one. They framed even those making righteous and common-sense arguments as traitors and insurrectionists. But now, not only the younger generation but also many middle-aged people in their 40s and 50s have awakened, exposing their false propaganda and their actual acts of insurrection. And now, seeing the last remaining false media, the small power elite, and the religious leaders who betrayed us to the end, I sensed their time was running out. Ultimately, I realized that no matter how many unjust laws they enact or how hard they try to turn the national system communist, the deep Christian roots of the Republic of Korea cannot be easily shaken. And I felt the answer lay in the ironic words of a university professor who called it a mystery that South Korea is not a communist country while China is. I believed it stemmed from the fact that the Republic of Korea, founded by President Syngman Rhee as Asia’s sole Christian nation based on the Galatians’ command to “no longer bear the yoke of slavery,” stands in stark contrast to China, where the clash between materialist-based communism and the capitalist market economy rooted in human freedom persists.

However, the most shocking problem was the politicians who cleverly reversed the targets of their authoritarianism, cosplaying as advocates for the weak, the false media obscuring people’s eyes and minds, and religious leaders whose heretical doctrines distanced souls from God. Even as the nation plunged into crisis and many values crumbled, religious and political separation was taught, or worse, representatives openly supported communism through prayer. The authority of the pulpit had long since fallen to the ground. The place meant to proclaim God’s word had become a place whispering clever lies, spreading deception that everything should be covered by grace. I realized this is why those seeking truth left the church. And I realized it wasn’t that people had left the church, but that God had left the church. So today, I rose at dawn, wrote my blog, read the Bible seeking the living water of truth, resolved to follow Jesus by heeding the voice crying out in the wilderness, and began my day with vigor.
