To keep my promise to my son to attend dawn prayer together, I rise early and pray earnestly for the Republic of Korea, the church, and our family. Recently, while listening to Pastor Yeom Bo-yeon’s Sunday sermon at Suwon Hansarang Church, I deeply sensed the spiritual crisis facing South Korea today. His words resonated profoundly: where God’s law disappears, an evil dictator takes its place. Seeing the countless reports of unjust laws posted on ‘V4Korea,’ I worry whether the resistance of patriotic citizens alone can truly stem this massive tsunami of muddy water.
God’s law is like a fence that safely protects our families and communities. Yet, even as that fence crumbles and our very freedom is being violated, it pains me to see that many Christians, with their spiritual eyes closed, seem to be merely chanting ‘grace’ within the sanctuary walls. Despite the Old Testament history proving the fate of communities that destroyed God’s law, people seem lost in worldly pleasures, dancing before the golden calf, even in the face of war’s blades and the threat of plague.
Even at this very moment, President Yoon Suk-yeol is praying to God in a cold solitary cell for the restoration and freedom of South Korea. I recall the scene where Moses clung to God in anger, pleading for the salvation of the Israelites who had made the golden calf in the wilderness. Astonishingly, I heard the backstory that President Yoon, despite having an opportunity to seek asylum with the help of the U.S. government, refused it because he could not abandon the citizens who followed him and the soldiers who obeyed his orders. Moses descended the mountain and smashed the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, and the Levites carried out the righteous judgment at his command. Seeing that very scene seemingly unfold identically in South Korea today, I could not help but pray with a fearful heart. I am convinced that God’s justice will soon come upon this land.
The international situation is changing rapidly, day by day. The blade of the international election fraud investigation, which began in the United States, is gradually turning toward the heart of South Korea. Japan’s Prime Minister Takaichi has also dissolved the Diet, secured a vote of confidence, and is pursuing the revival of a strong Japan, opening a new era in step with the United States. I earnestly hope that God’s justice will be realized in South Korea as soon as possible, restoring the lost freedom. I pray that South Korea will awaken to its mission as Asia’s sole Christian nation and priestly nation, stepping forth to the nations. Today, too, I build the altar of dawn, leaving a record on my blog, and begin the day with vigor.
