They don’t want us to know the truth

The Donald Trump administration’s policy of reciprocal tariffs is causing a massive realignment of the global economic order. The United States—the world’s largest consumer market and home to a concentration of the most innovative tech companies—is strategically adjusting tariff rates against other countries to strongly incentivize domestic investment. In particular, to accelerate the structural transition to the age of artificial intelligence (AI), the administration is offering companies that have expanded their production facilities and invested in the U.S. the opportunity to bypass tariff barriers and expand their businesses. At the same time, by imposing ultra-high tariffs of up to 254% on China, it is effectively exerting strong pressure on China’s export-oriented industrial system targeting the U.S.

While some express concern that these strong tariff measures are plunging the global economy into sudden turmoil, from a macroeconomic perspective, this is an inevitable corrective process to normalize the global inflation caused by the astronomical dollar-denominated quantitative easing (QE) implemented during the previous administration. Buoyed by the recent stabilization of oil prices, the price index relative to the U.S. benchmark interest rate is showing a stable trend, and the stock prices of tech companies—which were temporarily corrected as overheating subsided due to the impact of tariff policies—are also gradually returning to their proper levels over the long term, in tandem with the bond market. This is precisely why savvy investors, who clearly see where market capital is ultimately flowing, view the current correction in the U.S. stock market as a “bargain sale” and are responding by buying in increments at the bottom.

However, rather than conveying the nuanced realities of the global economy, the mainstream domestic media—which is biased toward political factions and sensitive to the whims of major shareholders and capital—is preoccupied with a sensationalist race for page views, diverting public attention to trivial matters or stoking fruitless political squabbles. In particular, with less than two months remaining until the presidential by-election, they are causing people to waste excessive energy on mudslinging between candidates during the primary process or on issues that stray from the core concerns. Meanwhile, they fail to properly report on the rigorous legal scrutiny of opposition party leadership facing judicial risks, public doubts surrounding the fairness of the election, or the sincere efforts of the 20s and 30s generation who gather in public squares every weekend to voice their peaceful concerns for the nation. It appears that the media, which should serve as society’s public forum, has forgotten its fundamental mission. Even as suspicions grow that figures in the legislative and judicial branches—as well as some politicians within the conservative camp—are entangled in specific diplomatic interests or vested-interest cartels, the media remains silent, turning a blind eye to the truth. It is a sad reality that the majority of citizens are either trapped in the busyness of their daily lives or remain silent about current events to avoid uncomfortable friction with those around them.

Although South Korea is passing through the darkest tunnel in its history and facing a crisis where the very identity of its system is being shaken, God’s providence—which governs history—is quietly at work behind the scenes, and discerning Christians are awakening in every corner of the nation. Even though society as a whole may be swayed by distorted ideologies or walking the path of compromise to protect vested interests, a small minority of awakened believers striving to defend the truth are standing firm against the spiritual collapse of this land, much like the “3.5% salt that keeps the sea from rotting.” Especially as we approach Easter, we deeply meditate on Jesus Christ, who completely shattered the power of death and triumphed 2,000 years ago. Just as the spiritual essence of truth becomes more evident with the passage of time and the number of those who believe in the historical fact of the Resurrection continues to grow, so too will the number of people in South Korea who open their eyes to the truth hidden behind the narrative framework surely increase. The forces of darkness are merely attempting to prevent the public from recognizing the truth that exposes the systemic limitations of their system, and to prevent us from uniting as a single, holy solidarity.

I see parallels between today’s situation and the tragic plight of slaves in the Southern United States immediately following the American Civil War: despite President Lincoln’s official Emancipation Proclamation, they remained unaware for a long time that they had become free people due to a lack of information. I support the Trump administration’s overarching policy direction to correct the distortions in the international order and pursue policies aligned with Christian values. While investing my assets and time in the U.S. market—which is undergoing a paradigm shift into the new AI era—I am also conveying the essence of this situation to my loved ones. On this Easter morning, as I praise God who surveys the entire universe from the majestic dome of the heavens, I resolve to stand fully on the side of truth, which has already achieved spiritual victory. Today, too, as I gaze upon the sun traveling across the heavens, I hold the wondrous mystery of creation close to my heart, record that deep emotion and joy in my blog, and begin this day full of hope with vigor.

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6)
